BRAGGING RIGHTS
We are a people that love to boast!
We enjoy what we have, what we have made, what we have obtained, where we go, what we are doing or have done. And it’s okay to take pride in what we have, but we have to remember that what we have is from the grace of God.
Deuteronomy 8:17-18 says:
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
To Boast means to speak with exaggeration and excessive pride, especially about oneself.
Brag- to use boastful language: boast
We take pride when we boast in this manner.
We have to be careful, when we boast on ourselves, thinking that we alone made it happen, it can somehow take a turnaround and end up going sour.
God shows us that our boast should be in him and not just of the things we’ve acquired or accomplished.
The song says that “If it wasn’t for the grace of God….”.
Psalms 34:2 says: We must learn that it is God whom our boasting should be turned to. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord, the humble shall hear thereof and be glad.
Acts 17:28 says: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
If we are truly part of the body of Christ, the apple don’t fall too far away from the tree. We are the sheep of his pasture, made in his image.
And that gives us Bragging Rights!
